What is Urgent Care at Your Door
Our new service in Hertfordshire lets private individuals book a paramedic, nurse or doctor to deliver healthcare at home. This service is available for those aged 2+
So often, you have an issue, and you either can’t get a doctor's appointment or the idea of getting out of bed fills you with dread. A&E is one alternative, but do you want to be sat in the waiting room for a whole day?
Our service bridges the gap by delivering urgent care in the home. By tackling issues early, they can often be prevented from worsening, and sometimes, face-to-face is better than online or telephone appointments.
Our clinicians usually attend in a double-crewed emergency ambulance equipped to the same standards as the vehicles we supply, fully staffed to the NHS to answer 999 calls.

FAQs
Is this not just a taxi? No, absolutely not. Your home appointment will include full health checks, the same as you would receive when you see a doctor. In most cases, we will be able to solve issues without the need to go to the hospital. We call this “See and treat.” If you do need to go, there is no obligation to travel with us. The ambulance service has developed a lot over the years, and surprisingly, even on a 999 shift, Paramedics can do an entire shift without taking any patients to the hospital as they can arrange onward care in situ. Our vehicles are equipped with huge amounts of equipment. We do also offer non-emergency transfers for appointments as well as part of our pre-booked services for example of someone was unable to sit up in a car and they are more like wheelchair/stretcher taxis.
Does it sound expensive? Our service is incredibly costly to run. We have to comply with very high standards of training and compliance in order to ensure we are safe. We also have to have sufficient spare capacity available as much of the time as possible so patients aren’t waiting for hours on end. We have made our service as cost-effective and affordable for people as possible. Our consultation fee is similar to that of a weekly shopping for a small family. Not only can you get care from the convenience of your home or bed, but we believe early intervention helps prevent hospital admission in many cases. We are looking at ways we can offer better value, such as through membership. We deliver outstanding care. Ultimately, the more who use our service the more it will free up emergency ambulances for things like cardiac arrests, serious life-threatening allergies, stokes and heart attacks.
What are your opening hours? We are operating from 10am-10pm. We close our telephone lines ahead of time to ensure our paramedics and ambulance staff aren’t over worked and hours late for their getting home as they need to be in a fit state to look after you. We hope to offer extended hours soon.
Who is this service actually for? This service is for anyone over 2. The ideal people for this service are those who potentially have reduced mobility or are unwell, do not want to get out of bed. Some patients might have tried to get a doctors appointment but do not want to wait or feel they need to be sooner than the next available appointment. Or it might be someone has fallen on the floor and cannot get up.
