Qualsafe Level 3 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW)

First aiders are an integral part of workplace safety. The Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 require all employers to make arrangements to ensure their employees receive immediate attention if they are injured or taken ill at work. This includes appointing a suitable amount of first aiders and providing appropriate first aid training.

 

Intended Audience

The Qualsafe Level 3 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work (RQF) is a regulated and nationally recognised qualification designed for those who have a specific responsibility at work, to provide first aid in a range of emergency first aid situations. It is also ideal for people who have a specific responsibility to provide basic first aid in voluntary and community activities.

Who Needs to do Emergency First Aid at Work? (EFAW)?

Every business needs to carry out a first aid risk assessment as part of their usual health and safety activities. The risk assessment should identify what level of first aid is required. For example is a very low risk environment it may be suitable to train staff with first aid awareness, however as the number of employees or risk increases consideration needs to be made for the number of Emergency First Aid (EFAW) trained staff and the number of First Aid at Work (FAW) trained staff. Staff may also need to be trained in paediatric first aid especially if they work in an environment such as a school or nursery.
