FAQ MET Medical

FAQs

Is this not just a taxi? No, definitely not. During your home appointment, we'll conduct comprehensive health checks, just like you'd receive at a doctor's surgery. In most cases, we can resolve issues without the need for a hospital visit. We refer to this as 'See and treat.' If hospital care is necessary, you're not obligated to travel with us. Ambulance services have evolved significantly, and even during emergency shifts, Paramedics often complete entire shifts without transporting patients to the hospital, as they can arrange further care on-site. Our vehicles are equipped with extensive equipment. Additionally, we provide non-emergency transfers for appointments as part of our pre-booked services. For instance, if someone cannot sit up in a car

Who is this service for? Our service caters to everyone aged two and above, particularly those with limited mobility or who are unwell and prefer not to leave their beds. It also serves patients who seek prompt medical attention without waiting for a doctor's appointment or those unable to wait for the next available slot. Additionally, individuals who have fallen and require assistance getting up can benefit from this service.

What about elderly people?
Are you concerned about the risks of falling, prolonged waits for assistance, or accessing timely medical care as you age? Our monthly membership offers reassurance. By joining, you not only gain peace of mind but also contribute to enhancing our regional healthcare infrastructure as we continuously improve and develop the service,

Are we safe? MET Medical operates this service. For over ten years, MET Medical has been delivering healthcare services both privately and on behalf of the NHS. Our team boasts extensive experience in diverse healthcare environments, including workplaces, responding to emergency 999 calls, non-emergency patient transport, critical care and the events industry. Renowned as one of the UK's foremost pre-hospital care providers, we consistently uphold high standards in medical service delivery.

Do you need this service? Urgent Care at Your Door stems from the personal experience of our CEO, Dave Hawkins. Last year, when faced with severe pain and unable to secure a GP appointment promptly, he recognised the need for a solution. More recently, when his parents fell ill, the urgency of their situation reinforced the importance of accessible healthcare. While our service may be utilised sporadically for urgent needs, its presence empowers individuals to address common illnesses and injuries proactively. With an expanding network and a team comprising skilled prescribers and clinicians capable of administering sutures and other advanced procedures, our community-driven initiative thrives on subscriber support. The more individuals join our network, the greater our capacity to serve you effectively!

I have insurance. Can you take me to a private hospital instead of A&E?

Yes, we are partnered with some of the leading private health providers. We have direct pathways into the London hospitals, which include access to a network of over 120 private intensive care beds. These beds deliver the same multi-specialist consultant-led care with the added benefit of hotel-comfort and speed of treatment. Subject to the hospital having an authorisation code from your insurer, we can arrange admission in under 2 hours. For those who are self-funded, we can get an admission agreement in as little as 15 minutes.

What blood tests do you do?

We have access to a lab that processes most tests on the same day. Our lab collects samples from us daily, and we can process results directly to your patient portal. Our in-house doctors review the results.

Is this an alternative for A&E?

Yes, our service can cover many of the conditions for which you might attend A&E. Our partnerships with private hospitals help bridge the gap between insurance and urgent care. Many conditions are treatable without spending 18 hours in the A&E waiting room. Our testing and diagnostics are of the same quality as those of NHS, just delivered faster and more effectively.
