The North West Ambulance service are advising callers to only ring 999 for ‘real emergencies’

Near-record 999 calls in the West Midlands have led A&E units and the ambulance service to say they are “stretched to the limit”.

The NHS have announced plans to take on about 260 extra doctors in an effort to ease pressure on accident and emergency units in England, Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt has said.
