Moving a Relative from one Care Home to Another
In the delicate process of transferring patients between care homes or nursing, ensuring a smooth and safe transition is of paramount importance. MET Medical, a leader in medical transportation services, understands the unique challenges involved in these transfers and has developed great skill and experience in meeting the diverse needs of all patients. With a commitment to excellence, MET Medical guarantees a seamless and compassionate experience for individuals requiring relocation between care facilities.
MET Medical's Private Ambulance Services prioritise the well-being and comfort of patients during the journey. We recognise that each individual has unique needs, and our team is well-equipped to handle a wide range of cases, including those requiring specialised care or higher levels of attention. We spend a great deal of time when you first get in touch with us just listening and finding out about the individual so we can tailor the care to their needs.
Deciding whether to move a parent or relative to a different care home can be a difficult decision. Factors for moving to a new care home vary. Perhaps you aren’t happy with the care they are receiving, the current care home or nursing home is no longer able to cater for their needs, or you may want to move your relative closer to home so you can visit them more easily. Either way, it can be a daunting experience.
Looking for a new care home can be just as challenging. Different care facilities cater for different needs. Generally speaking, care homes are staffed by carers where as nursing homes offer nurse-led care. That said, some care homes employ a registered nurse. Factors which should be considered are CQC ratings and reports; references, reviews or ratings; specialities such as Dementia care; general facilities; location; and, of course, cost or funding availability.
When selecting a private ambulance service, firstly, we don’t all provide black vehicles to support funeral arrangements, but it's important to choose a provider who is CQC registered, as ambulance transport is a regulated activity. Many service providers supply patient transport or wheelchair taxis. It’s important to understand the difference.
MET Medical have a whole team of Paramedics, Nurses and Doctors, as well as ambulance technicians and care staff. We cater to the needs of each individual and can generally transfer anyone, provided we have availability. Our team are well versed in looking after both those who are well or unwell. For long-distances we provide, food & beverage, pressure-reducing mattress toppers and things like movies to watch.
