Ambulance Stolen from St Albans/Hertfordshire based Private Ambulance Service MET Medical

Yesterday evening at around 22:37 an ambulance was stolen from outside MET Medical’s ambulance station on London Road in St Albans, Hertfordshire.

Two hooded persons were spotted walking into the industrial estate on CCTV at 22:29 and gained access to the vehicle which sped off down London Road at 22:37.

MET Medical is a family-owned independent ambulance service led by Dave Hawkins a local Paramedic. The company provides a range of services including transporting private patients, covering local festivals and sporting fixtures and supporting the NHS with both responding to 999 calls and non-emergency inter-hospital transport.

The thieves gained access to the vehicle, disabled its immobiliser and tracker and took off.

A silver Vauxhall Astra van was seen in the vicinity prior to the incident.

The ambulance is white with green and yellow Battenberg on the side and has MET Medical logos. The registration plate of the vehicle when it left was YJ18 FHL.

The public are asked to be vigilant as it is likely this vehicle may be used to commit another crime. Anyone with any information should get in touch with the police via 101 or call MET Medical’s control room on 0203 627 9042.
